What Kept Omotola Jalade Ekeinde’s
Marriage Intact?
Yes, many people have been looking for the
real reasons why Omotola Jalade Ekeinde
has been acknowledged as one of the best in
the Nigerian movie industry. While many are
searching for the inspiration behind her many
bests, some others have been asking why
she has been able to maintain a great
relationship with her husband and remain in
marriage for more than 20 years.
Now, I once read Omotola saying something
about having absolute respect for the
husband. In the interview, she narrated why
women should not strive to be equal with
men in everything and how women have their
roles and men have theirs. This is actually
one comment of hers that generated a lot of
bad blood, especially from her fellow women,
more from the side of those who call
themselves feminists.
Now, why would women be in love with
Omotola’s achievements and strides in
keeping her matrimonial home intact, without
being ready to emulate what she teaches
about marriage and how she does it?
In one of the interviews, she said that her
husband does not apologize to her by saying
sorry. If this is due to the men’s ego,
Omotola understands this perfectly, and she
is ready to live with it. For her, the husband
prefers to apologize with gifts than with
words of mouth whenever he does
something she does not like, and she is very
okay with this. She acknowledges that there
are some things that are left for the men
alone, while some are left for the women.
She understands the concept of women in
the African traditional setting, and this is
exactly what has been keeping the marriage
for a very long time. This laid back
traditional African lifestyle is the reason why
she did not find it funny when her celebrity
male kid decided to grow artificial dada. This
is something some of the west and
modernity prone mothers will applaud or see
nothing wrong with, but in her usual reserved
way, she has this to say,
“But this dude wasn’t born “Dada” now? I
mean warrisdis ? @iamcaptaine is this cute?
